Today we explored the Ring of Kerry which is a 179km tourist route around another County Kerry peninsulas.
Our first stop was the Red Fox Inn and Kerry Bog Village. The village has been recreated to show what life was like in Ireland when during the 18th century famine. They had to live a very meagre existence.
To keep warm the dug peat out a bog, dried it to burn. They had some burning in one of the cottages and it was giving off a lot of smoke and smelt terrible. I could imagine that it would get into every pore of your skin.
For our lunch we stopped in the village of Sneem. There is a small restaurant run by a lovely couple who made delicious sandwiches and scones. The owner was very proud of his tea which he blends himself. I have to admit it was pretty good.
The rest of the afternoon was travelling around the Ring of Kerry. This was another day of spectacular scenery. The photos below are all taken around the Ring of Kerry at the numerous lookout points

Upper Lake Killarney
On our way back to the hotel we travelled through the most likely place in Ireland to spot a leprachaun...well, I guess it must be because there was crossing sign. It must have been their day off because we didn't see even one!
