Today we headed off toward Glasgow leaving the delightful Skye hotel behind.
We travelled most of today so it was mostly staring out the window at the incredible views. Not much that I can say other that the Scottish Highlands are awe inspiring.
We stopped to take photos out over Glengarry Loch
And the snowcapped mountain Ben Nevis.
As we moved through the countryside we came through a glacial valley at Glencoe. The landscape changed from the craggy "V" shape valleys to a wide curved shape. You could almost imagine the huge glacier grinding and cutting its way down to the coast.
We did get a short welcome break from the bus as we took a boat cruise out on Loch Lomond. The loch was perfect, peaceful and very pretty.
Along the banks of the Loch there is a cave that was the hiding place of Rob Roy (Scotland's equivalent to Ned Kelly). You would have thought the authorities would have found it...obviously they couldn't read back then
We had lots of holdups along the way and we ended getting into Glasgow quite late so there was no time to explore before dinner. We had a lovely dinner at a city restaurant. After dinner one of couples wanted to find the "The Griffin" hotel because they had been told by a Scottish friend that the should go there as their surname is Griffin. Steve was very excited when we found it. It is now a uni bar and a bit grungy but it was fun to find it.
We are back to nice rooms and this one has a good view.
Tomorrow we head for Ireland and I'm looking forward to that.
